Based on a chemical principle, also known as the „Construction Principle" or „Aufbauprinzip“ which organizes and designs the periodic table, this work aims to ironically classify scrap, waste, and ruins systematically.
In total, I designed and built 118 concrete tiles, mirroring the number of elements in the periodic table. Each tile contains an object that relates, more or less, to a situation. These elements, classified by color, each harbor a flaw that imbues them with life. The objects embedded in concrete depict a sedimentation process that is resolute.
The diverse grids within this heterogeneity showcase elementary cells and molecules, all presented in the same format. The structure, as an open system, juxtaposes against the functioning machine, that resembling an hard drive or rack server. It collects various traces of a system and stores them, much like an individual would organize an assigned structure.
"One language, one education, one belief."
Visually, the machine evokes a small galvanization cell, operating with minimal power and current voltage, ensuring the result remains unseen. As long as it remains connected to the current, it will operate infinitely, descriving an invisible border before our eyes.
