They seem to have long forgotten the shops.
They cross markets, train stations, and sidewalks—a mountain of plastic bags, intertwined in impossible patterns, somewhere between geometries, flowers, and arabesques. On their labels, they are simply called “Borsa Shopping – Shopping Bag.” A surprisingly optimistic name for an object that accompanies fewer shopping trips than it does the transport of everyday necessities.
Cheap, seemingly fragile, yet surprisingly resilient when considering their very low price and the inferior materials from which they are made. Everything else is negotiable.
An involuntary monument to excess. A surprisingly enduring definition for something that has long since ceased to have anything to do with shopping.
